Description
Description Monolaurin (Lauricidin) is a patented ester of lauric acid, which is a fatty acid found in breast milk. Monolaurin contains the monoester of the fatty acid lauric acid. It is extracted from coconut oil. This is a great immune booster. Also used for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Naturally found in breast milk. It is also available in laurisine and A common problem facing primary car physicians is patients with persistent intense fatigue, flu-like symptoms and depression. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is strongly implicated in these cases, though it is often difficult to positively diagnose. Up to 80% of all humans are infected by EBV by age 40, and it may manifest as either asymptotic, a chronic low-grade infection, full blown illness or recurring illness. Monolaurin, an anti-viral and anti-microbial agent, has demonstrable activity against EBV and cytomegalovirus. It acts by binding to the lipid-protein envelope of the virus, thereby preventing it from attaching and entering host cells, making infection and replication impossible. Other studies show that monolaurin directly disintegrates the viral envelope, killing the virus. Monolaurin is a glyceride ester derivative of lauric acid, which is an antiviral substance present in human breast milk. Monolaurin was found to have even greater viral activity than lauric acid. Monolauriin is currently used as a GRAS food emulsifier and is considered essentially non-toxic even relatively high doses. Sands J et al. 1979.
